Minimum Qualifications:
LSW, LAC, LPC, or MSW
OR MS or MA in a related field (e.g., counseling, psychology, etc.) with experience working with youth and families
OR BSW (permissible ONLY when the Director is LCSW)
Mental health service providers who do not possess an LCSW or Doctorate in Psychology must be clinically supervised by someone who does. Clinical supervision may be provided by the Managing Agency, a contracted agency, through a consultant agreement, or by other licensed staff.
Responsibilities:
Provide short-term mental health counseling to address, prevent, and educate students and families about contemporary issues that impede social, emotional, academic, or physical development. NJ SBYSP does not administer psychological assessments.
Address issues early to prevent long-term problems and improve academic performance and personal relationships
Provide counseling related to crisis, situational adjustment, bullying, anger management, bereavement, depression, suicide prevention, and violence prevention
Utilize best-practice approaches, including:
Identifying and building on strengths of students and, as applicable, families
Supporting students in developing skills to manage situational change
Helping students improve daily functioning at school, home, work, and in the community
Each SBYSP program must have at least one Licensed Clinician whose licensure enables them to supervise clinicians who do not possess independent licensure. Supervision may be provided by someone not employed by the SBYSP.
Master’s Degree with 2 years of supervisory experience
Demonstrated history of collaboration with youth and community
All new hires must possess the required education
Responsibilities:
Provide supervisory oversight and management of school-based staff and program model to ensure alignment with the school-based operational manual
Lead the development of the program’s administrative and programmatic operations
Develop and maintain partnerships and collaborations with host schools and community resources
Ensure program availability, opportunities, and successes are marketed to promote program sustainability
Seek additional funding sources to enhance school-based services
Serve as a liaison to schools and the community, collaborating with state, community, and volunteer agencies that provide services related to youth and families
